Laid off again. Three times in 5 years, yay me.
I don't expect this will affect anything I've been doing LiLwise, but it does put a damper on some other projects I was thinking of starting up.

The Giddy Freedom of the Third Person View
I think I can safely say at this point that I am back at LiL. I have several threads going on which are all going well, and there's much more surprises in store.... but enough teasing.
(Can you ever really get enough teasing ;) )
Anyway, I've been quite pleased with my most ambitious project in a long time, the introduction of Legion. Briefly mentioned in an OOC discussion post in M&R, I decided to create an account that does not represent any particular character. This way I can create not only endless characters, but can run certain situations and show scenes that don't lend themselves to first person view. And, so far, it has been going great.
The Haunted House thread has drawn lots of really good players and is taking on a life of it's own. It's getting to the point where I have laid down most of the ground rules and hopefully that means players can run among themselves more without my prodding them. We shall see. In the interests of facilitating interaction, I am going to explain what is going on. If you are the sort to hate spoilers and explanations, then move along, nothing to see here...
This is a place to explain the setting, I will use some examples from the thread and sometimes slip into "game" talk, for this is really is a lot like an RPG. The terms are not necessarily used in character, but I am using them for clarity.
Essence:
The world of Madame Delacourt's is based around a very Victorian era concept. Every person who is capable of reproductive sex has a certain kind of energy within them, this is called essence and it comes in male and female forms. Normally, you keep your own essence, it is what is used to create life. A normal orgasm doesn't deplete it.
Initiates:
If somehow your store of Essence is disrupted, then you are initiate in that type. This can happen either positive or negatively. Initiates can detect essence in others, at first only of the type that was disrupted.
For simplicity, I will use new girls (ex-men) as examples, but this can be all sex-reversed for new men. So beware, Jenna!
Once drained of all essence, the victim becomes sort of broken. She/He loses the ability to regenerate essence and thus has none at all. This results in a total change to the other sex, sort of as a shadow of the missing sex. These shadows have no essence and thus do not mense or become pregnant in the case of new girls. New boys can have erections, but are infertile and basically shoot blanks. Both can still orgasm.
In the case of Doug, Jo interfered a little with the process to be extra mean, but Richard is more typical in a full transform. The victim can regain their normal sex by draining the essence from others, but it leaks out constantly, even faster when in the original sex form. And, what's worse, the crave it like a drug.
A new girl has only limited ability to drain and must do so through direct sexual contact. With practice (dare I say experience points [XP]?), a new girl can get to the point where the Wretch is, able to take essence with just a touch, but that takes a lot of practice. So, get going girls!
There is a way out, though it isn't easy. If a new girl can:

Essentially (...oops, sorry) If you have enough essence you can do just about anything with it. In order to keep things flowing, I haven't prescribed the exact "spells", but we've seen telepathy, teleportation, opening portals, body shift, and, of course, the ability to survive death. Madame is special, in that she doesn't seem to only be using essence. After all, somehow the first initiate had to be made, right?

- Really, truly want to become a real girl. This cannot be faked, since it your inner being that controls which side of the divide you sit on.
